Medical worldviews, as mentioned in Part I of the Metaphysics of Modern Medicine Series, is important when it comes to how we perceive our patients. There are two main models:
Humanities
The humanities is the study of the human condition, with a significant historical element. It embodies pivotal events that are essential in human existence, such as morality, conflict, and emotion, including the study of philosophy, history, ethics, comparative literature and religion. By embedding the study of the humanities into medical education and its practice, a stronger primary concern will be placed on the patient, instead of the disease on its own.
